Christian Education '09-10
At TBC we want to do our part in growing life-long Christians. Christian Education is essential to this goal. Christianity is too often understood to be "just another way of being good." Because of this popular misconception, many children grow up to leave the faith, discovering they can be 'pretty good' without God. But our most holy faith is about much more than being good. Our faith is about the Holy Trinity, the Creator God, the Incarnation, Atonement, the Resurrection, Original Sin, Satan, Humanness, Heaven and Hell. Our faith is about the world that really is and the world that is to come.

Our curriculum for Pre-K through 8th grade comes from Children Desiring God. Visit their website to read about their vision for students: www.childrendesiringgod.org.
Join us this year as we open eyes and hearts to the glory of God through Christian Education.

The 45-minute classes begin each Sunday at 9:30am.

Pre-school & Kindergarten

Teacher:

Description:

God has testified of His glorious deeds and mighty power. This curriculum explores God's greatness by noting key themes found throughout the Old Testament. Bible stories are not written out; teachers prepare the lesson through the study of scripture using a list of key themes, opening illustrations, and application questions to acquaint children with a great God whose character never changes.

Early Elementary             Teacher: Mr. Kevin Channell

Description:

Right thinking about God is essential for the life of faith. Using the alphabet as a framework for teaching the attributes of God, this study explores the delight that God has in Himself as the source, means, and purpose of all things. Each lesson asks and answers three key questions, "Who is God?" "What is He like?" and "How should I act toward Him?" as it presents a theology of God for children.

Upper Elementary

Teachers: Carl & Karen Martin

Description:

The names of God are wonderful revelations of His majestic character. This study presents the Hebrew names of God in the Old Testament and the names of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Each lesson encourages children to see and rejoice in the goodness and greatness of God as they explore the meaning of His glorious names.

Junior High

Teacher: Mr. Paul Wilmot

Description:

This study encourages students to surrender to Jesus in salvation and submit their minds, hearts, and wills to His way in obedience. The first several lessons focus on the need for salvation, and on God’s work in making idolaters into worshipers of Himself. Then, students examine the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). The lessons explore the human tendency to worship the creation rather than the Creator, and to pursue the temporal benefits of the world over the eternal value of knowing Christ
